Description

An intricately carved figural group depicting the Hindu deities Shiva and Parvati. Shiva is positioned to the left, identified by his third eye and holding a trishula (trident) in one of his upper hands. Parvati is shown in a dynamic dancing pose to his right. Both figures are adorned in traditional Indian jewellery, headdresses, and garments including dhotis and saris. The background is composed of fine openwork carving featuring scrolling foliate and floral motifs, forming a decorative mandorla. The piece is mounted on a stepped, rectangular dark wood plinth. The material displays a fine grain and a natural yellowish-cream patina. Note: If this item is ivory, it is subject to the UK Ivory Act 2018 and would require a relevant exemption certificate for sale.

Height: approximately 23 cm – 25 cm (including base)

Width of base: approximately 10 cm – 11 cm.

Condition report:

The figurine is in good overall condition with the intricate openwork remaining largely intact. Natural surface patination is present throughout consistent with age. No significant chips, cracks, or professional repairs are visible from the provided images.
