Lot 145:
Description
A collection of three decorative metalware picture frames of varying styles and materials. The largest is an oval frame cast in a silver-toned metal, likely pewter or a white metal alloy, designed in the Art Nouveau style with stylized tulip motifs and organic flowing lines. The two smaller frames are constructed from cast brass in the Rococo revival style. The medium-sized rectangular frame features dense ornamentation including scrollwork, acanthus leaves, a central mask at the cresting, and winged putti figures to the sides. This frame retains its original pierced easel stand. The smallest frame is also of cast brass with typical Rococo-style C-scroll and foliate decoration. No maker’s marks are discernible on the items.
Large Oval Frame: Height approximately 30.5 cm
Medium Brass Frame: Height approximately 23 cm
Small Brass Frame: Height approximately 14 cm.
Condition report:
The frames are in good vintage condition. The silver-toned frame displays a consistent matte surface. Both brass frames show an aged patina with some darkening and oxidation in the recesses of the casting. All frames are structurally sound with functional easel supports where applicable.
