Description

A collection of vintage automotive radiator grille badges and nameplate emblems representing various motoring organisations and vehicle brands. The collection includes two Royal Automobile Club (RAC) badges: one circular type surmounted by a King’s crown with white lettering on a blue ground, and one square-framed badge with a printed insert featuring the RAC logo and a leaping Jaguar mascot. There is a die-cast Automobile Association (AA) badge with a winged top and intertwined logo over a yellow plastic backing; the base is stamped with the serial number OR34984 and text referencing Fanum House, New Coventry St, London W.1. The group also features a large Ford oval badge with gold-tone script on a blue ground, a circular Opel Blitz emblem with a stylised lightning bolt logo, and a tapered rectangular Triumph nameplate with black block lettering on a silver-coloured ground. The items are constructed from chromed metal, enamel, and printed or plastic inserts.

Ford Badge: Approximately 14 cm wide.

AA Badge: Approximately 9 cm wide by 10 cm high.

Triumph Badge: Approximately 11.5 cm wide.

Opel Badge: Approximately 10 cm wide.

RAC badges: Approximately 7.5 cm in largest dimension.

Condition report:

All items are in used vintage condition with signs of age-related wear. The AA badge shows significant yellowing and minor cracking to the plastic backing plate, along with pitting and oxidation to the chrome surfaces. The circular RAC badge exhibits moderate wear to the chrome plating and surface scuffing to the central blue field. The Ford, Opel, and Triumph badges show various degrees of surface oxidation, chrome pitting, and minor scratches consistent with exterior vehicle mounting and age. No significant structural repairs or modern reproductions are apparent.
