Description
This lot consists of two clocks: an antique German mechanical alarm clock and a modern British desk clock. The first item is a Junghans mantel alarm clock housed in a patinated brass or base metal case with a scalloped, arched top. The front panel features a textured reddish-brown finish surrounding a central dial with a flamed red effect and a gilt-finished chapter ring with black Arabic numerals. The reverse of the case is stamped with the Junghans trademark of two crossed arrows and contains two integrated folding winding keys, a central hand-setting stem, and a small alarm setting dial visible through a lower aperture. The second item is a Newgate London desk clock designed in the style of an oversized pocket watch. It features a circular black-finished metal case with a decorative top loop and winding crown. The cream-coloured dial displays bold black Arabic numerals with spade-and-whip style hands and is marked Newgate London.
Brass clock height: approximately 10 cm
Newgate clock diameter: approximately 7.5 cm (excluding loop).
Condition report:
Both items are offered in untested condition. The Junghans clock shows visible surface tarnish, oxidation, and age-related wear to the brass case and finish. The Newgate clock is in good cosmetic condition with only light signs of use.
