Lot 38:
Description
A vintage German folding travel or picnic cutlery set manufactured by Pfeilring of Solingen. The set comprises three folding implements: a single-blade knife, a spoon, and a three-tined fork featuring an integrated folding corkscrew. The implements are constructed from polished stainless steel and are fitted with cream-coloured synthetic handles, possibly celluloid, which are pinned to the frame. The set is housed within a brown leather zippered case with a tan-coloured interior. The interior leather is stamped in gold leaf with the Pfeilring Solingen mark. The tang of the spoon is stamped with the manufacturer logo of a five-pointed star within a circle above the word ROSTFREI.
Case length: 14 cm
Blade length: 7.5 cm.
Condition report:
The set is in good vintage condition. The leather case displays surface scuffing, particularly to the front pocket, and minor edge wear. The zipper is functional. The stainless steel components show light surface scratching and faint oxidation consistent with age, notably on the spoon bowl. The folding mechanisms are operational and the handles are secure with no visible cracks.
