Description

This lot comprises a miniature gramophone record manufactured by the Crystalate Gramophone Record Mfg. Co. Ltd. under the Imperial Records brand. The disc features Jack Gordon (Tenor) performing a selection titled Imperially, divided into Part One and Part Two. The record is accompanied by two original paper sleeves: one blue-grey promotional sleeve with text detailing the price of full-size 10 inch records as 1/3 only, and a second graphic sleeve featuring an illustration of pipe organ pipes. Also included is the original square brown cardboard mailing box. The box lid retains a typed address label for S. A. Ellis, 54, Prestbury Road, Forest Gate, E.7. and an ink stamp dated 26 NOV 31. A printed label on the lid reads IMPERIAL Crystalate RECORDS. The record labels are red and black with gold-toned text. The manufacturer is listed as having works in Tonbridge, Kent, and offices at Imperial House, 60/62 City Rd., London, E.C.1.

The box measures approximately 6.5cm x 6.5cm.

The record diameter is approximately 8.5cm.

Condition report:

The mailing box exhibits age-related toning, surface wear to the edges, and yellowing to the paper labels. The blue-grey promotional sleeve shows significant creasing and several small tears radiating from the central die-cut aperture. The organ-themed sleeve displays light creasing and minor wear to the edges. The record appears visually sound with legible labels and minor surface dust.
