Description

This lot comprises a diverse collection of vintage telecommunications phonecards and franchise-themed trading cards dating from the mid-1990s. The collection is primarily focused on the James Bond film GoldenEye (1995) and the television series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

The James Bond GoldenEye portion includes a series of British Telecom (BT) phonecards featuring denominations of £2, £3, £4, £5, £6, and £7. These cards depict promotional stills and character portraits of James Bond (Pierce Brosnan), Xenia Onatopp (Famke Janssen), and Natalya Simonova (Izabella Scorupco). Also included is a 10-unit chip-based Callcard from Telecom Eireann featuring film artwork and copyright dates for 1995.

The Star Trek: Deep Space Nine section contains a series of character-based trading cards, resembling the 1993 Skybox series, with photographic portraits of Captain Benjamin Sisko, Major Kira Nerys, Doctor Julian Bashir, Quark, Lieutenant Jadzia Dax, Chief Miles O’Brien, and Security Chief Odo. The set further includes cards depicting the Deep Space 9 station and the U.S.S. Defiant.

Additional items include a variety of illustrated BT phonecards such as a Disney Pixar Toy Story card featuring Mr. Potato Head (dated 1995), a Beano SOS card with Dennis the Menace, and a 100 Years of Radio commemorative card featuring G. Marconi. Promotional advertising cards for Flora, Baywatch, and Save £2 family vouchers are also present.

The collection is housed in clear plastic multi-pocket sleeves within albums. The cards are constructed of printed plastic and cardstock.

Individual card dimensions: 85 mm x 54 mm

Visible folder spread width: approximately 27 to 34 inches (68 cm to 86 cm).

Condition report:

The collection is in a used, vintage state. The phonecards generally exhibit signs of functional use, including surface scratching, light edge wear, and markings consistent with being swiped through card readers. The Star Trek trading cards are in overall better condition, appearing Lightly Played with some minor corner softening and occasional surface scuffs. The plastic storage sleeves show age-related wear and some creasing.
