Lot 40:
Description
A vintage clockwork toy train locomotive featuring an Art Deco streamlined design. The body is constructed from lithographed tinplate in an orange-red colour with silver and black decorative lining, faux rivet details, and simulated cab windows. The front of the engine displays a printed blue shield-shaped logo depicting a city skyline over water, a mark attributed to Mettoy Playthings. This 0-4-0 model features four grey plastic wheels and an integrated clockwork motor with a permanently attached metal winding key on the right-hand side. The underside of the chassis includes a start/stop lever. The locomotive is designed with a hollow front nose section and rear housing for couplings. In working order
Length: 15.2 cm.
Condition report:
The locomotive shows significant signs of age and play wear. The lithographed surface has numerous scratches, scuffs, and small paint chips throughout. There are visible areas of surface oxidation and patina on the interior, the underside, and where the paint has worn away. Both the front and rear coupling mechanisms are missing. While the internal clockwork mechanism appears complete, it has not been tested for functionality. No original packaging is present.
