Description
A Ronson Varachem Penliter, comprising a combination ballpoint pen and cigarette lighter, manufactured in England. The instrument features a metal body with a dual-textured finish, incorporating a brushed matt section and polished chromium-plated components. The writing mechanism is a ballpoint pen, while the lighter utilises the proprietary Varachem chemical cartridge ignition system. The interior lid of the original presentation case is marked Ronson Varachem Penliter in script and block lettering. A recessed plaque within the case reads Varachem Cartridge Ignition. Two small metal ignition canisters are included, marked Patented made in England and spent cartridge return for disposal. The set is presented in its original black hardshell case with a brown velvet-lined interior. An integrated accessories compartment contains the two ignition cartridges and a spare ballpoint refill.
Condition report:
The pen-lighter and its associated accessories are in excellent vintage condition, showing no significant signs of use. The metal surfaces are free from brassing, pitting, or surface scratches. The interior velvet lining and exterior hardshell of the case are well-preserved. Given the specialised and now-obsolete nature of the chemical ignition cartridges, the lighter mechanism is sold as a collector\'s item and its functionality is not tested or guaranteed.
