Description
A Persian miniature painting executed in gouache and body colour on a rectangular plaque of bone. The composition depicts a traditional polo match featuring eight riders on horseback wielding mallets in a hilly landscape. To the right, onlookers are seated near two tents, one in blue and one in brown, set against stylized trees and foliage. The work is rendered in a traditional Persian style, characterized by fine line work and a palette including shades of blue, green, red, and yellow. The painting is set within a dark blue fabric mount and housed in a Khatamkari marquetry frame. This frame displays intricate geometric star patterns composed of inlaid wood, bone, and metal strips. No signature or inscription is visible on the face of the artwork.
