Description
A pair of large decorative wooden nutcrackers, traditionally constructed for seasonal display. The first figure is depicted as a military soldier wearing a blue jacket with gold-painted trim and button details over green trousers and black boots. He wears a black top hat accented with a gold-tone metal chain and a gold knob, and holds a gold-painted wooden staff. The second figure is a Scottish Highland piper dressed in a red and black tartan kilt and matching sash over a black jacket with gold-painted cuffs. This figure features a tall black faux-fur busby-style hat and holds a set of bagpipes with a tartan cover. Both figures have white synthetic hair and beards, and are mounted on circular wooden bases in coordinating blue and red colours. They feature the traditional functional nutcracker lever mechanism at the rear.
Height: approximately 35 cm to 40 cm.
Condition report:
Both items appear to be in good vintage condition. The painted surfaces remain vibrant with no significant chips or flaking observed. The synthetic hair and faux fur are intact, though show some minor matting consistent with age and storage. All accessories, including the staff and bagpipes, are present.
