Description
This collection contains an assortment of vintage cigarette and tea card related materials and reference publications. Included is a hardbound copy of The Guide to Cigarette Card Collecting Current Values by Robert Scott. There is a substantial stack of Cigarette Card News magazines published bi-monthly by the London Cigarette Card Co. Ltd with visible issues from the early 1960s including Vol. 22 No. 264 Vol. 23 No. 272 and Vol. 24 No. 277.
The lot features various card albums including a Safety First album issued by W. D. and H. O. Wills. A group of Brooke Bond picture card albums is present with titles such as Wildlife in Danger by Peter Scott Wild Flowers Prehistoric Animals Famous People 1869-1969 Butterflies of the World Asian Wildlife and Queen Elizabeth II. Also included is an educational booklet titled The Story of the Hurricane.
A large selection of loose cigarette cards is presented in clear plastic collector sleeves. The cards are primarily from John Player and Sons and include series such as Cap Badges and Regimental Crests. Visible military insignia include the 19th Royal Hussars Queen Marys Own Nottinghamshire Yeomanry Sherwood Rangers 16th Royal Lancers Prince of Waless and the Metropolitan Yeomanry.
Based on the visible ruler the Cigarette Card News magazines measure approximately 24 cm in height.
The Safety First album measures approximately 18 cm in height.
Condition report:
The collection is in varied vintage condition. Paper elements show typical age-related toning foxing and minor creasing. Album covers exhibit shelf wear including corner bumping and some surface rubbing. The loose cards appear to be in generally good condition within their protective sleeves but remain ungraded.
