Lot 160:
Description
A diverse collection of approximately 28 clocks, including novelty, travel, and miniature mantel styles. The lot features a red London telephone box novelty clock, a golf bag clock, a beetle-shaped clock, and a timepiece mounted within a metal presentation tin with a carabiner clip. Several mid-20th-century style travel clocks in folding leatherette cases are included. The group also contains various miniature carriage and bracket-style clocks in brass and gilt-metal cases. A central gilt-metal mantel clock is marked Le Chateau on a white dial with Roman numerals. Another timepiece bears a maker’s name beginning with G and a bottom-left example is marked ST. [illegible]. The collection includes a mix of case materials such as brass, gilt-finished metal, wood, plastic, and leatherette. Dials are primarily white or cream with both Roman and Arabic numerals. Movements likely include both quartz and mechanical types.
Condition report:
The items are in generally fair to good aesthetic condition, displaying surface wear, scratches, and tarnish consistent with age and use. Some travel clock cases show wear to the leatherette. All movements are untested for mechanical function or timekeeping accuracy. This lot is sold as a job lot, as seen.
