Description

A Soviet-era mechanical desk or mantel clock produced by the Mayak factory in the USSR. The timepiece features a circular dial housed within a heavy, faceted clear glass surround, designed in a style characteristic of Soviet crystal-ware. The movement is supported by two angled metal struts mounted onto an oval base of dark, mottled stone, likely serpentine or marble. The gold-tone dial displays applied Arabic numerals and is marked with the brand name Маяк in Cyrillic script. The reverse features a gold-finished backplate with the stamped technical specification ГОСТ 3309-65 II кл, referring to the 1965 Soviet State Standard and a Class II accuracy grade. The clock retains its original winding key and features a mechanical wind-up movement.

Base width: approximately 20 cm.

Condition report:

The clock displays visible signs of age and wear. There is significant oxidation and pitting to the metal support struts and the winding key. The stone base shows an accumulation of dust and surface grime but no apparent cracks. The glass surround appears to be in good order without major chips or fractures. The mechanical movement is untested and is sold as seen.
