Description

A vintage Esso motor oil service bottle dating from the mid-20th century, typically associated with 1930s service station equipment. The item is constructed from clear glass and features a distinctive tiered or stepped neck design, which was originally intended to hold a metal pour spout for dispensing oil. The cylindrical body includes vertical ribbing that frames a central rectangular section. This central section is embossed vertically with the letters ESSO. A circular band around the shoulder of the bottle is embossed with the text CONTENTS ONE PINT. Near the base of the bottle, there is a further embossed inscription reading PETROLEUM CO, identifying the Esso Petroleum Company. The capacity refers to the Imperial pint measurement common in the United Kingdom.

Height: 35.5 cm
Diameter: 8 cm.

Condition report:

The bottle is in good vintage condition. The glass remains clear without significant clouding or sickness. No major chips, cracks, or deep fractures are observed. There is light surface wear, minor scratching, and some internal residue consistent with its age and previous use in a garage environment.
