Description
Attributed to an Italian manufacturer, this octagonal musical jewellery box features a burl wood veneer body with a waisted profile and sits on an ebonised base. The lid is decorated with an inset marquetry panel depicting a violin, a horn, and sheet music surrounded by floral and foliate scrolls, bordered by ebonised trim and a narrow inlaid band. A metal escutcheon is set into the front. The interior is lined with pink velvet and contains a removable divided jewellery tray. The lower compartment houses a mechanical musical movement, visible beneath a clear protective cover, likely of Swiss origin based on similar examples. The lot includes an assortment of costume jewellery, including faceted bead necklaces, metallic chains, a pendant, and a watch.
