Lot 83:
Description
This lot comprises two vintage clockwork model vessels manufactured by Sutcliffe Pressings Ltd of Leeds, England. The first is a Sprite Day Cruiser constructed from painted cream tinplate. It features the name SPRITE on the bow in black and gold-tone lettering. The cabin roof bears a manufacturer decal depicting a red and white lifebuoy with the SUTCLIFFE name, and a circular Union Jack decal is positioned on the rear deck. The second item is a Sea Wolf submarine, finished in bright yellow paint with a red plastic conning tower and a red plastic deck-mounted missile launcher. It is equipped with a black periscope and a brass propeller with a yellow-painted rudder assembly. Both models are powered by internal clockwork mechanisms and are accompanied by a single unbranded metal winding key.
Submarine length: approximately 28 cm
Sprite length: approximately 28 cm.
Condition report:
The Sprite Day Cruiser is in good vintage condition with minor surface wear and small spots of oxidisation. The Sea Wolf submarine is in fair to good condition, showing more significant paint loss and surface oxidisation particularly along the hull seams and edges. Plastic components appear intact on both models. The clockwork mechanisms have not been tested for functionality. No original packaging is included.
