Description
A comprehensive collection of British Royal memorabilia and ephemera spanning several reigns of the 20th century. The assortment includes a 1953 Queen Elizabeth II Coronation souvenir scarf, printed with a central roundel, red, white, and blue bunting, Buckingham Palace, and the Queen on horseback. A framed Lullingstone Silk tassel souvenir is included, featuring a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on a red velvet background with an inscription stating the silk was used for the Coronation Robes. Printed volumes consist of Elizabeth Our Queen by Richard Dimbleby in blue cloth, a John Player and Sons cigarette card album for the 1937 Coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, and an Illustrated magazine souvenir issue for King Edward VIII. The collection also features Princess Margaret’s Betrothal Book. Ephemera includes the 1953 Coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Approved Souvenir Programme, a 1949 pamphlet for the Royal Visit to the West Riding of Yorkshire, and a menu for the Victoria Lodge No. 2000 Ladies Festival from 1953. Additional items include three white barrelled souvenir pens with crown finials, one of which commemorates the 1910-1935 Silver Jubilee, a black and white photograph depicting King George VI and Queen Elizabeth with a Corgi, and a framed miniature portrait of a young Queen Elizabeth II within a pink border decorated with the ER monogram.
Condition report:
The collection is in mixed condition with age-related wear throughout. Paper and card items exhibit typical yellowing, foxing, and edge wear. The Elizabeth Our Queen volume shows significant spine damage with fraying to the cloth at the head and tail. The 1937 cigarette card album shows visible staining and corner creasing to the covers. The 1953 scarf displays folding creases but appears well-preserved otherwise. Metal finials and clips on the souvenir pens show surface oxidation and loss of plating.
