Lot 55:
Description
A trio of decorative objects featuring a sculpture, a wall mirror, and a table clock. The sculpture is a reproduction of Auguste Rodin’s The Kiss, produced by the studio of Amilcare Santini in Italy. It is constructed from bonded marble or alabaster resin and mounted on a polished rectangular black and white veined marble plinth. The rear of the sculpture is incised with the signature A. SANTINI. The rectangular wall mirror is a Celtic Revival piece by Meek Arts & Crafts of Paisley, Scotland. The frame features a cast white metal border, likely a pewter alloy, decorated with high-relief Celtic interlace and knotwork patterns. The reverse is finished with black felt and retains a manufacturer label. The lot is completed by a Stanley table clock, featuring a circular quartz movement with a silver-tone Roman numeral dial, set within a heavy, undulating clear glass frame.
Sculpture height: 19 cm
Mirror dimensions: 26.5 cm x 18 cm
Clock diameter: 15 cm.
Condition report:
The items are in good overall condition. The Santini sculpture shows minor surface dust in recessed areas and light shelf wear to the underside of the marble plinth. The mirror border exhibits a light patina and minor surface oxidation consistent with age; the mirror plate is clear. The glass clock frame is free from visible chips, cracks, or scratches. The quartz movement is untested.
