Lot 1:
Description
A vintage Woodrow of Piccadilly grey fur felt morning top hat. This formal headpiece is constructed from grey fur felt with a wide black felt hatband and a light-coloured grosgrain ribbon binding to the edge of the curled brim. The tall crown features slightly concave sides and a flat top. The interior is finished with a cream silk lining and a brown leather sweatband, featuring a small bow at the rear. The centre of the lining is printed in gold with the Royal Warrant for Queen Elizabeth II above the maker mark for Woodrow, Piccadilly, London. A handwritten ink mark reading D 338 is present on the lining.
Overall length: 30.5 cm
Height: 15 cm.
Condition report:
The hat is in good vintage condition showing light surface soiling and dust, particularly to the light-coloured grosgrain brim binding. The interior leather sweatband exhibits minor age-related wear and staining from use, and the silk lining shows a few small isolated marks. The hat retains its shape well.
