Description
A pair of men’s dress hats consisting of a black wool felt top hat and a woven sennit straw top hat. The black wool felt hat features a tall crown with a slight flare and a curled brim finished with bound edges. It is adorned with a wide black grosgrain ribbon band and a flat bow. The interior is lined with pink satin-finish fabric featuring a printed label with a crest showing a yellow shield and a black top hat flanked by two lions, above the text Mason Wear, 100% Wool Hand Made, Made for England. The woven straw top hat features a flat-topped cylindrical crown and a flat, wide brim. Its interior fabric lining is printed with the brand Desquire and a royal-warrant style coat of arms for Tress & Co. London, noting it was made expressly for the retailer Kinch & Lack, Mens Head Specialists, London, Worthing, Guildford.

Condition report:
The black felt hat is in good overall condition with some visible surface dust and lint. The interior lining and sweatband appear intact. The straw hat is in fair condition, showing minor fraying and small breaks to the straw around the outer edge of the brim. The interior leather sweatband is heavily deteriorated, exhibiting significant flaking and red rot. The interior fabric lining shows some staining and discolouration.
