Description
A vintage long tape measure by Rabone Chesterman Ltd. The instrument is housed within a circular leather-bound case featuring a brass winding mechanism and exterior fittings. The reverse side includes a stitched leather hand strap secured by brass brackets. The tape itself is of non-metallic construction, likely woven fiberglass or plastic-coated fabric, graduated in feet and inches. Centrally on the winding mechanism side, the brass ring is stamped RABONE CHESTERMAN LTD. and MADE IN ENGLAND. The winding handle is marked with an arrow and the word WIND. The leather case reverse is also stamped RABONE CHESTERMAN LTD. MADE IN ENGLAND. The tape measure is marked NON-METALLIC and 1 FT LONDON.

Condition report:
The leather-bound case shows moderate wear including scuffing, darkening, and surface loss around the perimeter. The brass components have a developed patina and minor surface tarnish. The leather hand strap is intact but exhibits age-related surface cracking. The non-metallic tape is in fair to good condition with surface soiling but remains clearly legible. The mechanical winding function is in working order.
