Description
An assortment of mid-20th-century smoking accessories and lighters. The collection includes several table lighters featuring polished onyx and alabaster stone bases with brass and chrome-toned metal inserts. Branded items present include a Cricket table lighter by Gillette in its original transparent plastic retail box, a large Bryant & May’s Special Safety Match box, a Swift matchbox by Maguire & Paterson of Donegal Road, and a blue Piccadilly Juniors cigarette tin. Also included is a ceramic table lighter decorated with a playing card motif, a chrome-toned table lighter with a fluted conical base, and various metal pocket lighters and cigarette cases, one featuring a central horse head medallion. The items are housed in a black plastic crate.
Dimensions: The lot is contained within a crate measuring approximately 40cm x 30cm.
Condition report:
The items are in varied vintage condition. Metal components show visible surface oxidation, tarnishing, and minor pitting. The stone bases appear largely intact with surface scratches and small chips consistent with age and use. The cardboard and paper ephemera exhibit edge wear, creasing, and surface soiling. The plastic packaging for the Cricket lighter is scuffed and shows age-related yellowing. All mechanical items are untested and may require replacement flints, wicks, or fuel.
