Lot 157:
Description
A commemorative ceramic figurine modelled as a British World War I heavy tank. The piece is finished in a pale green celadon-style glaze and decorated with raised white slip-trailed dotting along the panels and tracks to represent rivets. The model represents a Male tank, identified by the side sponsons equipped with twin gun barrels. The underside features a large circular firing hole and unglazed footrims. The base bears a black printed factory mark featuring a crown above a circular device containing a bird and the text W & R STOKE ON TRENT, with the words CARLTON WARE LTD. printed below.
Condition report:
The figurine exhibits fine all-over crazing to the glaze (photo 1). No chips, cracks, or visible repairs are apparent. There is minor shelf-wear and light discolouration to the unglazed portions of the footrim (photo 3).
