Description
A contemporary cast iron novelty wall plaque featuring an oval form with a raised border and lettering. The sand-cast sign is finished with a cream-coloured background and black-painted lettering reading BEWARE OF THE WIFE across three rows. Two pre-drilled mounting holes are positioned at either end of the oval for wall or gate attachment. There are no maker’s marks or foundry stamps visible on the face of the item.

Condition report:
The plaque is in good overall condition with some visible signs of use. Minor paint chips and wear are present around both mounting holes, and there is light surface scuffing to the cream-painted finish (photo 1). A small white paint droplet is visible on the bottom edge of the letter W in the word WIFE (photo 1).
