Description
A vintage brown leather suitcase with a purple fabric interior containing a diverse collection of decorative objects and antiques. The assembly includes a Chinoiserie hand mirror featuring a painted scene of figures in a landscape on the reverse, alongside a second smaller hand mirror housed in a patterned box. Three timepieces are present: a square brass alarm clock with Roman numerals, a semi-circular silver clock with a black ribbed body, and a miniature clock under a glass dome. Further items comprise a blue glass pyramid, a cast metal paperweight in the form of two mice, a metal figurine of a woman in a gown, and a carved figurine of a bearded man. The collection also features a brass-bound level, a silver snuff box, a wooden box, and various small tins including one with a blue label reading FARRAH’S ORIGINAL ESTD 1840. Utility items include a horseshoe-shaped charm reading GOOD LUCK and several small utensils.
Condition report:
The leather suitcase exhibits heavy wear with significant scuffing and loss to the leather on the handle and edges (photo 1). The purple fabric lining shows fading and light staining. The metal objects, including the clocks and figurines, show varying degrees of surface tarnish and dust accumulation. The Chinoiserie mirror has some wear to the painted surface and tarnishing to the metal frame. The glass dome on the miniature clock appears intact.
