Description
A large collection of UK and Commonwealth stamps and postal history housed in several ring-bound albums and loose stock pages. The assortment includes a wide variety of definitive and commemorative issues, primarily from the UK, Jersey, and the Isle of Man. Notable contents include multiple Machin head definitives in various colours and denominations, as well as specialised commemorative issues such as the 1977 Silver Jubilee. The collection features numerous circular date stamp (CDS) cancellations on used stamps arranged on stock pages. Also included is a group of first day covers presented in plastic sleeves, featuring themes such as Christmas 1986, the 25th Anniversary of the Coronation, and the Royal Silver Jubilee 1952-1977. One cover is addressed to Stoughton, Guildford, Surrey, and another to Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset. The Isle of Man Silver Jubilee cover features a printed ER monogram.
Condition report:
The collection shows a range of conditions consistent with a large estate lot. Used stamps feature various circular date stamp cancellations, some of which are light while others are more heavily applied (photo 1). The stamps are largely perforated with mixed centering throughout the stock pages. Several first day covers are housed in protective plastic sleeves and appear in good order, though some outer paper envelopes show light toning and handling marks (photo 3). One snowman-themed cover displays a child\'s pencil or crayon drawing (photo 3).
