Description
A large hand-blown glass mell decanter, also known as a ship’s decanter, rendered in a deep emerald green transparent colour. The vessel features a dramatic wide, compressed globular base with a flat underside, tapering sharply into a tall, slender neck that terminates in a wide, flat out-turned rim. The piece displays characteristic mid-19th-century styling, though the form persisted into the 20th century. The base has a polished pontil mark and shows faint incised marks near the outer edge which are not legible. The interior and exterior surfaces show uniform colouration with some light internal bubbles trapped within the glass during the blowing process.

Condition report:
The decanter is in good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. There are light surface scratches and scuffs to the underside of the base consistent with shelf wear (photo 3). The upper body and neck show some light surface dust and minor faint scratches.
