Description
An assortment of die-cast and lead toys featuring horse-drawn vehicles and hand-painted historical figures. The collection includes a red die-cast stagecoach with green wheels and a seated driver, alongside three horse-drawn wagons. One red wagon is inscribed with Arnott’s Biscuits in yellow and black lettering on the side panels. A red dray with three black barrels is inscribed with Taunton Cider and Autumn Gold, while a third red dray with three black barrels is inscribed with Truman. The figures comprise a diverse range of hand-painted lead and metal subjects, including medieval knights in chainmail and plate armour, an infantryman on skis, a bagpiper in a kilt, a drummer wearing a bearskin hat, an indigenous North American figure in a feathered headdress, and a cowboy. The vehicles feature rolling wheels and articulated hitches for the plastic and metal horse teams.
Condition report:
The collection shows varying degrees of wear consistent with age and play. The red stagecoach exhibits significant paint loss and chipping to the roof and edges (photo 4). The horse-drawn wagons show scattered paint wear to the bodies and wheels (photo 4). Several figures are damaged or incomplete; the yellow-clad knight and the knight with the green shield are missing their right arms (photo 2). The indigenous North American figure is missing an arm and part of a hand-held accessory (photo 3). Significant paint loss and chipping are evident on the blue-clad figure and the bagpiper (photo 3). The stagecoach is missing its team of horses (photo 1).
