Description

A collection of religious devotional items and paper ephemera comprising a diverse range of materials and iconography. The group features a wooden icon depicting St George on horseback slaying a dragon, executed in a traditional Byzantine style with Greek text at the upper edge. A large brown paper poster is printed with the title A CRIB FOR CHRISTMAS in orange block lettering, accompanied by a white-line illustration of a nativity scene. The collection includes a printed booklet titled The Gospel Stamp Album featuring an illustration of the Madonna and Child by T. Noyes-Lewis, and two small black cloth-bound volumes titled Hymns and Common Prayer. A clear faceted crystal obelisk contains a three-dimensional internal laser etching of a tall monument or lighthouse structure. Also included are a metal crucifix mounted on a dark wooden cross, an egg-shaped miniature featuring a nativity scene on a decorative base, a small arched metal plaque depicting a standing saint, and a circular metal pendant. A wooden ruler is visible in the background for scale.
Width: 16 inches.

Condition report:

The collection shows general signs of age and wear across all components. The paper ephemera, including the large poster and stamp album, displays visible creasing, edge wear, and small tears (photo 1). The wooden icon shows surface wear, abrasions, and loss to the gilded finish along the edges (photo 1). The two small books exhibit rubbing and wear to the cloth bindings and spine edges (photo 1). The clear crystal obelisk appears in good condition with minor surface dust and no visible chips (photo 2). The metal crucifix and decorative egg show natural patination and minor surface marks consistent with handling (photo 1).
