Description
An early 20th-century ironstone bed and douche pan of the Perfection type, featuring a wide, flat-topped rim and an open rear designed for patient comfort. The piece is constructed from heavy earthenware with a white glaze and includes an integrated hollow handle at the base for ease of positioning. The interior of the bowl is marked with a black transfer-printed inscription reading PERFECTION BED AND DOUCHE PAN above a stylized logo for Boots The Chemists. The logo consists of a large cursive B followed by oots, with the word THE contained within the lower curve of the B, and a small banner below reading CHEMISTS. The reverse shows a smooth glazed finish and the underside of the integrated handle.

Condition report:
The item is in good vintage condition with surface wear consistent with age and medical use. There is minor pitting and small dark inclusions in the glaze from the firing process visible on the interior and exterior surfaces (photo 1). Light scuffing is present on the underside of the base where it has been in contact with surfaces (photo 3). The transfer print remains clear and dark with no significant fading. There are no chips, cracks, or signs of restoration visible.
