Description
A machine-embroidered Luftwaffe breast eagle insignia, depicting the characteristic droop-tail eagle in flight, clutching a swastika in its talons. The eagle is rendered in white and silver-grey thread using a dense satin stitch technique on a dark blue wool cloth backing. The embroidery displays fine detailing throughout the wings and feathers. The reverse side of the patch shows the characteristic bobbin thread patterns and white embroidery stabiliser associated with period machine manufacture. The insignia remains in an unissued state, retaining its original rectangular backing with raw, unfinished edges intended to be folded under during the tailoring process. No maker marks or labels are present on the textile.
