Description
A cloth Luftwaffe uniform breast eagle featuring a machine-embroidered eagle in flight, clutching a swastika in its talons. The eagle is executed in off-white thread on a tan cotton twill backing. The design shows the characteristic downward-curved wings associated with the German Air Force. The backing material is trimmed to the shape of the eagle, indicating its intended use for tropical or summer uniforms. The reverse side of the patch is covered with a white paper stabilizer, which is used during the manufacturing process to maintain the structural integrity of the machine embroidery. There are no visible maker’s marks or stamps on either the front or the reverse of the insignia.
