Description
A polished Buffalo Horn decorative sculpture featuring a relief-carved four-clawed dragon. The natural, curved horn has been finished to a smooth, translucent honey-brown tone, which contrasts with the opaque cream-coloured detail of the carving. The dragon coils around the central body of the horn, with meticulously rendered scales, a flowing mane, and sharp claws. Two small black bead-like pupils are inset into the dragon’s head. The base of the horn is decorated with a carved repeating scalloped border. The piece is hollow towards the base and tapers to a solid, polished point at the tip. Two small, clean-cut circular holes are present on opposite sides of the base rim. No maker’s marks or inscriptions are present.
