Description
A pewter hip flask of curved kidney form featuring an elaborate central cartouche to the front face. The decoration is composed of deeply engraved C-scrolls and foliate borders surrounding the Masonic Square and Compasses symbol with a central G. The surrounding field is finished with a cross-hatched textured background accented by stylized floral and leaf motifs. The flask is fitted with a circular screw-top cap with a stepped, knurled edge for grip. The base is struck with an impressed mark comprising the words ENGLISH PEWTER arranged in an arc above a pictorial device of a standing figure in historical dress holding a pike or staff.
